PEDA was born from a simple but painful truth: ships and planes arrive in West Africa full, yet leave almost empty. For decades this has been the quiet reality of a continent that grows some of the world's best food but struggles to send it out to the markets that are hungry for it. Not because Africa lacks products. Not because global buyers lack demand. But because the systems that make international trade possible were either weak, fragmented or nonexistent. PEDA exists to change that.

Our journey began from the legacy of AFGEAN, an initiative rooted in the vision of Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina and Mr. Sawyerr, who spent years building early structures, policy engagement and market pathways for agrifood exporters across West Africa. That foundation revealed a deeper truth: Africa does not have an export problem; it has an export systems problem. Documentation fails. Shipments get rejected. Packaging collapses. Logistics break down. Buyers lose confidence. Farmers remain stuck. And exporters — no matter how capable — struggle without a predictable structure to plug into.

PEDA was created to build that structure. Today, we operate as a trade-enabling organisation and export infrastructure provider helping African agribusinesses reach and scale in global markets with clarity, compliance and confidence. Our work spans export readiness, compliance, logistics, market access, trade missions and digital trade through Borderless. Every part of what we build serves one purpose: to ensure African products can leave this continent the same way they arrive from others — consistently, competitively and in full.
